Photography and Painting

As a photographer, in the past whenever I seem to have hit a wall or have a block I would pick up some paints and do some landscapes or conceptual painting. Studying the relationship of color and light and forms seems to help me regain my photographic eye. To me it’s about composition and the influence of photography on painting today is unavoidable, it would be like avoiding the influence of life on your work. There is something about painting from one of my photographs that brings me a feeling of possession. The way you have to look at it in order paint it brings it to life in a whole new way.
